EDITOR'S COMMENTS As the new official fditor, allow me to extend my greetins to all of you fans. I have, in the limited time allotted me, tried to make as food a job as possible out of this issue of THE NATIONAL FANTASY FAN; and although it is far from satisfactory, I hope it will find favor in your sight. First, the paper is much too light weight to be used on both sides, but it was done to save postage, as I could not find any heavier. Also the lack of large lettered headings is readily apparent, but I did not have any lettering guides on hand, and had no opportunity to secure any. Even though its appearance leaves much to be desired, all the material is here, which is the most important thing after all. And by the next issue, I hope to have secured both heavier paper and lettering guides. Next issue, in addition to the improvements mentioned, will carry a feature which I have long thought should be included in the official organ. Lately, many others have voiced the same opinion, so next month, TNFF will carry a letter section in which any member may speak at reasonable length. Come on you folks; get those letters in early, though if you want them included in next ish. One thing I want to straighten out right now. The last name is Lyon, no "s" added, please. Why must so many of you insist on making me plural? What do you think I am, a dual personality? One more bit of personal business. I have gone to work for Western Electric at their new radio plant in Burlington, North Carolina. However, I come home on week-ends, so my mailing address will remain the same, since I can pick up my correspondence then. But due to the fact that I will only have week-ends to work on TNFF, material should be sent me as soon as possible. The next issue will come out Nov. 10, and all material should be in my hands by Nov. 1. Of course any last-minute stuff, if important will be included. And everyone, please drop me a card if you change your address, otherwise you may receive TNFF late. Most of this issue is taken up with the candidates' platforms for the forthcoming election. There is really a good turn-out of candidates this time, enough to make a hot election. It is always interesting to me to read any kind of campaign speech. Even though the same things are said over and over again, still the little changes each individual makes in them, gives it enough variety to warrant its reading. Its somewhat like a good story. If its good, rereading it detracts nothing from its quality. Then too, one can usually glean a little information about the writer form the style he uses. Therefore campaign speeches deserve a careful study from all sides. It is hoped that everyone will vote, and before making a choice, will carefully weigh each candidate's ability against the requirements, and thus reach a decision. Most important of all, it should be kept in mind that regardless of who wins, your favored candidate or otherwise, this person deserves your fullest cooperation in every respect. But enough of this. (Too much, in fact) That's all from me for now. Andy Lyon 2
