EMBLEM This is the report of the Emblem Committee, appointed to select an emblem from sketchs sent in to them by the members-at-large. The committee is composed of Al Betts and Jack Sloan. The report is made by Jack Sloan, Chairman of the committee. [Illustration: Emblem in shape of a shield, which is described in subsequent paragraphs.] The sketch was sent in color. The note, reproduced too small for easy reading, says "Azure, on a chevron argent three crosses bottonny gules, in chief two estoiles or, in the base a skull silver . . ." In the smaller sketch a ribbon effect is left blank for the inscription of the organization name. Here is the Committee report: "Azure, blue the color of the sky seems the most appropriate tincture of all for our field; on a chevron argent three crosses bottony gules, a cross symbolizes leadership which quality has always been thought of as a very definite part of the fan character. Here, however, three red crosses "bottonny" or budded at the tips symbolize both leadership and growth, things proper to both club and its members; in chief two estoiles, or two golden stars appealed as the aptest way in which to recognize the scientifictional element in the NFFF; in the base a skull silver, completes the blzon with an easily understood representation of the fantasts and weirdists belonging to the club. At the side of the shield is a smaller copy of it included for the purpose of indicating the emblem's appearance when reduced to monochrome. An even smaller reproduction will be possible when printing. At the base of the secondary shield is a scroll left blank, to be used for the name of the organization or whtever motto may be decided upon." / Jack Sloan / Chairman of the Emblem Comm.
