1. Less talk & more action. In accordance with this, i favor the Speer constitution and hope that you will vote for its acceptance. I do not agree with it in toto, & its early revision will be my first objective. However, i feel that more can be accomplished working under it, than under the present top-heavy document even with the proposed amendments. I hope that every member who votes for me will also vote for the Speer constitution. 2. Effective administration. I will definitely NOT attempt to run the whole show myself. I intend to be an administrator & nothing more. You, the membership, will do the work, which is the only key to successful organization. I agree with Telis Streiff that the younger fen should take more interest & have more voice in the NFFF. I am happy to note that the majority of candidates for office come from this group. There will be an opportunity for all the younger fen to take some part & show what they can do. The older fen can act as guides, to help the younger fen avoid mistakes that have been made in the past. 3. Projects. There is a definite need for a comprehensive HO'S WHO of fandom & i think the NFFF can do a good job on this in a year's time without the burden being taken entirely by one fan or a small group. With intelligent coordination, i think this or any project in demand can be accomplished on a cooperative basis. A spirit of willingness & responsibility on the part of all parties in volved is essential, however. Whether this spirit exists or can be called into being remains to be seen. I think it can, & i tnink i can channel it productively. Yhcs, Art Widner * * * * * * Vice-President Walter A. Coslet: I have indicated my willingness for some months past, to run for the office of Vice President of the NFF. My two main reasons for so doing are: 1. It is the most responsible office in the organization for which I feel I have sufficient time, etc., to handle satisfactorily, and, 2. The NFFF has apparently had more trouble securing candidates for Vice President than for any other office. So, wishing to do what I can to help I am filing for office. I am in favor of more fan activity and I recommend that more attempts be made to secure publicity for the NFFF. For instance, the sending of the club fanzine to "Sarge Saturn" for review in Startling Stories; and inclusion in fanzines published by NFFF members of advertisements for the NFFF indicating how the club can be joined and the benefits of membership; and that all NFFF "letterhacks" include plugs along this line when writing the pros (unfortunately, however, such publicity is cut from lettrers to Planet Stories). I am for the advancement and improvement of fandom, its efforts and organization, and will do what I can for its furtherance. In conclusion, I earnestly solicit your support. ((Your suggestion about sending TFFF to SS is being followed with this issue, "Lone Wolf" Coslet. However, Sarge Saturn has also shown a desire to refrain from endorsing fan organizations. &e)) * * * * * Secretary-Treasurer K. Martin Carlson: I sincerely believe that I am well qualified to conduct the various duties of the office of Sec.-Treas. As far as equipment goes, I have a Hecto, a Mimeo, and a printing Press and offer these for service to the National Fantasy Fan Federation, in 6
