present here, that are present at the conference, and hopefully this is where my task force might serve a purpose. I will now give you a brief run down of my task force to allow you to see how maybe this task force might be used toward the ends of the S-S people. As I stated yesterday, it is a landmark or a milestone in the Chicano movement in the state of Iowa. It took alot of years, and alot of time in the part of a few people that got involved in the political process, and lobbied and requested of the Governor that a task force be created. The task force came into being thorough Senate file 424, and it is or was designed to assist the S-S Iowan the S-S population, and is recommend legislation to create the necessary changes. That's lip service. The necessary changes are not going to be created by the study. And this is why we have to get involved now before we finish our study. Our task force can serve as a link a - communication link in the S-S population of Iowa, which we can start promoting at this time. Our study is supposed to be concluded by September of this year we should have the report out ready for the next assembly. The study itself is only going to gather dust in some file cabinet someplace, unless we get involved. Senate file 434 was not only an assessment bill it was a bill to assist S-S Iowans, to implement programs for the S-S Iowans, and to cordinate S-S programs. So you see it sounds very nice. We have beautiful legislation designed to do everything. But unfortunately they didn't appropriate any money for it. Very much along the lines of other legislation is created. For political reasons and no other reasons at all. Consequently we can rest assured that the $39,000 that they appropriated is a measure of this commitment toward the S-S population. And they
