Raza movement has been effective and is growing and continues to expand. Salvador Ramirez was giving credit in his presentation to the students in various parts of the country on Chicano students who have raised some fundamental questions about are identity and have been the spearheads in the movement of the Chicano in Iowa we also have the Chicano students at this university that have been active over the last 6 or 7 years and the annual conference for example is the result of 2 or 3 Chicanos who came in 1968, 69, 70 and began to demand that the university ole** some-thing for them. Ramirez listed 4 basic principles of the Chicano movement. The ideals of "yo soy Chicano." The Chicanos students at this university have raised that basic question and have made many adult Chicanos in this states, begin to re-question their whole existence, begin to re-question what they were, begin to re-question their whole assimilation concerns through the loss of force fear as Ramirez says the Chicanos at this university were able to get those in positions of authority to move. The Indian, Chicano cenlie was founded that monies were ellocated to recruit Chicanos. Ramirez noted to Roberto Negreto coming to the university last fall.
