Chicanos from Grand Juries the way there is in California? If so what do you know about that? PANEL RESPONSE: There is none. AUDIENCE RESPONSE: What about in Iowa? RICARDO ZAVALA: Hardly any Chicanos participate. There are no Chicanos ever called for the Grand Juries. It is exclusion by law. ANGEL MORENO: There is a reason for this. We only have 14 thousand registered to vote. They go by the voters registration list. Most of our voters work in the factories. They will not take the time to participate in these causes. Their primary concern now is to feed the families. AUDIENCE RESPONSE: I belong to La Raza Unida Party in Illinois. The gentleman, el hermano, gave some concrete things on how to begin to organize. I just have one comment and it seems quite trite, but it is very important. I think before we can start mobilizing our people we must see to it that every potential Latino is out of the Democratic and Republican party. What we need is people in our party. We need them to build what we are fighting for. We have to align ourselves so that Latino Americanos, in Latin America, our brothers here in the United States, los hermanos en Viet Nam, will realize that our struggle is a very important struggle. We should quit pussy footing around from going to a Democratic meeting, to a Republican meeting to La Raza Unida with Raza. We come to the conference with La Raza and we go back as precinct captains for the Republican party, we are precinct captains for the Democratic party. We have to go back to los barrios, we have to start working with the people. The factories are where a large number of our people are. How many obreros do we have here? We do not have any. We have not communicated with them. We have not gone to these shops and factories where they exist. These people are the ones that are going to make these changes. So, I urge everyonr of us to work with people and tell them all about what La Raza is about, what people are about, what the political problem is really about. It is not putting our ballot in a machine. That is not a political process, that is brainwashing. So, I urge everyone to join La Raza Unida Party, join our movement as truly revolutionary for the people and by the people.
