Purpose To create a program of education that will foster within the public and administrators of institutions an awareness of the human needs of Chicanos in the state of Iowa. A Positive Direction for the Chicano Movement There are periods in each of our lives when we must re-assess ourselves as individuals, families, organizations, groups and, most important, our relationship to the Movement. we have to determine what our involvement is, what our commitment is, what ou dedication is, what our abilities are, what our limitations are, what our goald and objectives are and, finally, what the ideals and philosophy that guide us are. . . . Rodolfo Corky Gonzalez March, 1972 In the Spirit of AZTLAN, the Chicano Indian-American Student union at the University of Iowa, in an act of solidarity with all oppresses people of the world, extends a welcome hand to all concerned individuals, gente, to learn, to find solutions and, most of all, to contribute to the abolition of all forms of exploitation in this state, this country, and the world. We, therefore, dedicate this conference to those priciples to which so many of our people have dedicated their lives-freedom, liberty-TIERRA Y LIBERTAD, JUSTICIA.
