April 9 1936 Sewed on jacket, baked bread, and went to Waechter's. Took rose rayon dress for Rita and my father's old trousers for Pauline to make over for Eldon. 1937. Worked on rug. made an apricot spongecake dessert for Mother-Daughter banquet. Men served it. 105 there. Velma came on P.M. train & went with us. 1938. Girls finished washing while Frank & I went to Madison for new suit for him—15 yr. size. Had to narrow the vest & put tuck in cuffs. We ironed, darned. Letter from Hans to meet him in Middleton Friday eve—Made yeast. 1939. Easter in Brown Co. S.D. very diff. from sunrise service with Signe in charge at Middleton, etc. Called on some of August's neighbors, taught them Lexington rummy. High wind & real estate "rising". 19
