UNIQUE TALES 17 ice crystals where the water had frozen instantly and a thin ice-spray was sinking ever so slowly to the surface. Almost immediately a group of the leech-things crawled loathsomely from their dismal abodes and crawled through the grey moon-pumice toward the gleaming ice crystals. As soon as the things reached them they began to grow and when all was consumed a few began to edge toward the ship. In frantic horror I rushed to the controls and made a poor but immediate take-off. I roughly plotted my course and setting the controls began writing this. I may never reach earth for I know very little about mathematics-but I must so I can warn the earth of this horrible menace. I must, I... EPILOGUE Here the diary ended; Isfal was probably killed in the crash that all but destroyed the ship. Ironical to say, the ship crashed a scant fifty yards from its starting place. Isfal's body and the remains of his brother's were both smashed, but fortunately for mankind the diary was intact. Thus we have disclosed exactly what happened on the ill-fated trip to the moon, and we hope we may dissuade those planning on going to this death-moon with its horrible creatures that live only for moisture.... FLASH!! Edward E. Smith's new serial, "Galactic Patrol," begins in the September, 1937 issue of Astounding Stories. Don't miss it!
