taxi over towards the two spaceships. The two ships saw the small air-taxi and one of them headed towards it. The earthmen could see the forward ray gun of the ship turning towards them. The earthman told the dirver to keep heading towards the ship and then he carefully aimed one of his heavy guns towards the oneoming ship. He slowly pressed a small button on the side of the handle. The gun jumped back, almost flying out of his hand. The driver's mouth hung open. He couldn't believe his eyes. The ship coming at them had exploded in mid air! He looked at the two guns in the earthman's hands with more respect. "They can be powerful at times," was the earthman's explanation. Without being told, the dirver turned his taxi towards the other ship. But a cry escaped his lips. The other ship had picked up the princess and was almost out of sight. Below them layed the remains of the princess air-rocket. "We are too late," said the driver. "They took our princess." "Drive me to the palace as quickly as you can," ordered the earthman, "we may save the princess yet." The driver proved that he knew the land well. In two minutes they hit the capital city right on the nose and in another two had landed on the palace landing platform. He turned around and almost fainted. In the back seat sat a man dressed completely in black. A helmet of the same color as upon his head. Over his eyes hung a black mask. Over his mout a microphone arrangment. "THE MASKED SPACEMAN," muttered the driver, his eyes as large as dishes. "You are the Masked Spaceman!" "Wait here," said the Masked Spaceman, his voice mechanical thru the microphone. "I'll be right back and I'll neep your help." "Yes sir, yes sir," muttered the taxi driver, "yes sir!" The Masked Spaceman walked away from the landing platform and entered the palace. No one was
