33 FANTASY DIGEST Reader's Column Sam Moskowitz--- For a first issue I believe that no one can really kick. I can name a hundred or more fan mags whose best issues never were as good as your first. It was better, by far, than the first issue of "Helios" in material I dare say. Your illustrations are simply superb! I've never seen Marconette better than he was on your cover, and this new discovery of yours Maskwicz is a marvel. He'll go far I predict. Your format is very neat, and the [illegible]graphing is easily readable. In summary I'm very well please and would advise a gradual increase of pages. MELVIN C. SCHMIDT--- Short but sweet---The first issue of your magazette places it among the better ones now being published. HARRY WARNER, JR.--- Congratulations on the first FANTASY DIGEST! To go over the issue rapidly, the hektoing is much better than I had feared. Very little is really illegible, and the two-tone effect in printing is pleasing. Illustrations are perhaps the best features of the magazine. Marconette's drawings are always done with extreme care and taste; I have yet to see one of his that appeared hurried or poorly done. All in all, the cover is about as neat as possible. And Maskwicz is superb! Though I've only seen several drawings of his that were in this issue, just the same I would judge from these that he's just about ready for the pro mags! Hope you have a lease or something on him. Inside material very good. Moskowitz's piece is even above his high standard, and Bahr and Roberts are very readable. Mr. Vincent should really come out from behind those false whiskers. You could stand a little more wordage, but if the magazine makes a success of itself I know
