Minnesota 28, Iowa 18. Illinois 27, Michigan 23. Northwestern 23, Purdue 22. Nebraska 19, Drake 9. Missouri 37, Kansas 15. Chicago and Minnesota still remain tied for first place in the conference as a result of both fives winning their games Saturday. Northwestern managed to win from Purdue by a one point margin in the tilt at Purdue Saturday. Markley, the Purdue forward, was sadly off form, throwing but a pair of ringers. He is suffering from an injured shoulder. Campbell, the Purdue center, was also out of the game because of mumps. The defeat has ruined all hopes of a Purdue title winning five. Iowa Wesleyan won its fourth game of the schedule Saturday night, by defeating Hedding college by a score of 51 to 14. Green rang up seven baskets. From all reports the Mount Pleasant forward is going at a fast gait. Cornell easily won from Grinnell by the score of 31 an 16 Friday. Washington university of St. Louis coached by Dick Rutherford, former Nebraska star, will make a trip into Iowa this week. The Pikers play Drake a two game series and Ames will be played one game. Simpson and Cornell will meet in a basketball contest at Indianola Friday night, the outcome of which will go a long way toward determining the Iowa college conference champion. Dope favors the Cornell quintet. Brown's free throw mark in the Gopher game is the record of the season. Brownie scored an even dozen points which should raise his standing considerably. STRAND THEATRE WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY Dorothy Dalton in "QUICKSAND" a paramount feature Christie Comedy and News Weekly From the ability he displayed in the Iowa game, Oss, Gopher forward, looks to be in the race for an All Conference star. The Minnesota player is fast, an accurate basket tosser, and a good man in team work. Olson held Kingsley, the giant Gopher, scoreless the second half while he himself rang up three baskets. Olie played one of his best games of the year against the highly touted Kingsley. Missouri had little trouble in downing the fast Kansas quintet Saturday. Meanwell, former Badger coach, has one of the best teams in the west, one that would more than hold its own in the Big 10. SERIES OF TALKS FOR Y.W.C.A. IS PLANNED A special series of talks for the month of February has been arranged for the regular Y.W. meetings, which are held in the liberal arts drawing room at 4:30 each Wednesday. Mrs. C.E. Seashore will start the series tomorrow with the subject, "The Business of Being a Woman." There will be special music by Dr. C.B. Parsons. "The Business of Being a Student" is to be discussed by H.C. Dorcas Feb. 12, and Prof. C.B. Wilson has the subject, "The Business of Being a Friend" for Feb. 19. The last number, "The Business of Being a Christian" is to be given by Miss Clara M. Daley Feb. 26. Tea will be served in the Y.W. parlor before each meeting. All women of the University are welcome. Council A recent issue of the War Work Bulletin contains the picture of Marcia Dunham, alumna of the University now in Y.W.C.A. work in Russia. Miss Dunham was one of the four American girls sent by the United War Work council to Petrograd. The Y.W.C.A. workers conducted their classes for Russian girls and did the work of the association in the midst of revolution and Bolshevism. Aside from the Winter Palace and the Telegraph, the corner the association building occupied in the Russian city saw as much fighting as any place in the town. One day while the American women were at the window they saw one of a sniping party run and shoot a guard on the bridge. Four soldiers lay quiet on the pavement after that sortie, Miss Dunham says in her letter. Pledges as asked to report at 8:30 for program. President. OCTAVE THANET Octave Thanet will meet Tuesday at 5:30 for supper. There will be a program following the supper. The meeting will be held at the Congregational student house as usual. Kappa Kappa Gamma have postponed open house indefinitely on account of the death of te Grand Treasurer of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Marie Baldwin, Pi Beta Phi, is recovering from an operation for the removal of her tonsils. HESPERIA The program which was to be given tonight has been postponed until a week from tonight, Feb. 11. Let The Iowan be your letter. PROF. NUTTING TO LECTURE "Antigua" will be the subject of Prof. C.C. Nutting's lecture tomorrow evening at 8 o'clock in the natural science auditorium. Professor Nutting says that Antigua is a more tropical place than the Barbados, much more interesting, and different in many ways.
