Thursday, February 13, 1919 THE DAILY IOWAN STATE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA PAGE THREE SOCIETY AND PERSONAL MANUELSON-BLACKBURN Edna Emanuelson and Mort Blackburn were married a short time ago at Des Moines. Mr. Blackburn has been in the army. He was a former student here and a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. Mrs. Blackburn was a Delta Gamma. Delta Gamma will entertain at a St. Valentine's party Saturday afternoon. Alpha Xi Delta will entertain at a Valentine party Thursday evening. Phi Zeta Epsilon will entertain at a dancing party at the Burkley Imperial Friday evening. Prof. and Mrs. H. F. Wickham will chaperon. Phi Kappa Psi will entertain at the chapter house Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ingalls Swisher and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard West will be the chaperones. Freshman engineers will entertain at a dancing party at the Majestic hall Friday evening. Phi Delta Theta will entertain at a party at the chapter house Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Carrell and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stevens will be the chaperones. Delta Zeta will entertain at a reception Friday afternoon in honor of their chaperon, Mrs. Kathryn Tudor. Psi Omega will entertain at a dancing party at the chapter house Saturday evening. Dr. and Mrs. T. D. Greene will chaperone. The Y. M. C. A. will hold its World Problems forum weekly meeting tonight at 7 o'clock. Prof. C. M. Case will talk on "The Meaning Of Bolshevism." Hesperia held mock initiation at 5 o'clock Tuesday in L. A. drawing room. Supper was served followed by formal initiation and a program which was held in liberal arts assembly room. Two dialogues were given. Helen Von Lackum and Gertrude Murphy presenting the first and B. Beam and Lola Long the second. Ethel Roe gave a reading on "Actors of the Legitimate Stage" and Olive Foxworthy "Movie Actors." [advertisement] The Valentine Worth While Candy From Whetstones Y. M. and Y. W. C. A. will hold a joint movie Saturday evening. All University men and women are invited to attend. Athena held initiation at the University club rooms Tuesday evening. A mock program was given, followed by a lunch. An extemporaneous vaudeville was given by the freshmen. Philo-Octave gave a joint mixer Tuesday evening in L. A. drawing room. A program was the first entertainment of the evening. some of the special numbers were a reading "For France" by Alice Hatcher and Lucile Farnam. Alma Harris gave a "History of Philo and Octave" in movies. Max Conrad gave an oration on Garfield. A musical selection was given by Ardis and Clarice Knudsen. Currier hall will entertain at a Valentine party Friday evening. A number of stunts will form part of the program. At this time the new house members will be initiated. Mrs. Robert Carson entertained the members of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority at a tea Sunday afternoon at her home on College Street. Mrs. Anna D. Starbuck gave a musical program at the regular musical assembly of the University high school last Tuesday. A picture of the dental infirmary with everyone at work is the feature of the University service bulletin this week. Each of the 140 chairs is occupied. L. A. Michels law '17, has resumed his law practice in Washington, Iowa after receiving his discharge from the army.
