Winnie Ewing Coffin, Owner Des Moines, Iowa N.C. Kinnick, Manager 5024 Hamilton Street Omaha, Neb. Coffin Farms Franklin County Polk County Iowa Wednesday 7-21-39 Dear Grandma: How thoughtful of you to remember me once again on my birthday. Since I have now reached my majority I suppose I have received my last "fin" from you. Acting on that supposition it has been my intention to buy something permanent with your check. I wanted to be able to tell you in this letter what I had bought, but I have been so busy working that I have been unable to get downtown. As soon as I have made my purchase I will let you know. At present I am working everyday from 6 am to 3 pm sampling wheat in the boxcars in the Burlington RR yards for the Omaha Grain Exchange. It is pretty hot work
