Saving...
be the case; not only with old friends but also from new well wishers. That of course presents a problem as one wants to be kind and courteous to all who rightfully haveclaim on your time. One point is not to let it accumulate too much, and another it to make it brief but not abrupt. One way I can help you there is to send a few stamps, which are enclosed. I note that the AFI furnishes you with stationary. We shall miss you at the Wedding on Saturday. And I believe that Portia is justifiably alarmed about divided attention during the ceremony as it may be difficult to get some of the boys away from the radio long enough to hear the "I do's". We should have at least one similarity to stadium conditions, as I understand that 80 guests will be present and the affair is scheduled for the house, you know. I have been suggesting that mother and I take a vacation for the two weeks following the Minnesota game, and plan to be in Chicago when you play Northwestern, so she might see one game. Her last reaction, right after Saturday's game, was that she might find the excitement too much. We shall work out that problem as seems best. For myself, I find an interest that is difficult to restrain. Power to you all of the time; and that means power to deliver your best performance on the field, power to do the right thing at the right time, power to help the other boys when they have the assignment and power to reflect the character of the boy that we all know you to be. Much love Pop
