Omaha, Nebraska, November 14th, 1939 Dear Mary: Your letter came Friday, the same day that George and I left for Iowa, first doing a little business for the Bank In Taylor County, then up to Adel that evening and on to Iowa City on Saturday morning via Ames where we picked up Ben and Elsie Louise Clarke. Bob Hobbs was also with us from Adel where he arrived from Omaha on Friday evening, As you know, the game Saturday [Notre Dame] was a thriller-diller, the likes of which comes only once in 18 years. It was grand to see Mary and Mac, and she probably has told you all that happened. When I wrote you I had. forgotten that the 23rd is Thanksgiving in Illinois, and we shall certainly be happy to help eat your turkey. I had planned that we would use a couple of days showing George around the city, and I wonder if it would be agreeable for us to arrive Tuesday evening, probably be~fore six; which will give us Wednesday and Friday for sight seeing. Probably Saturday will have to be devoted to seeing some Evanston friends, and the game. Nile is getting three tickets for us, as I understand that your family is already provided for. Saturday night we will take care of ourselves, and if Nile can come home with us we will bring him to your house that night and probably drive as far as Iowa City Sunday the 26th. Until Tuesday then. Love [Nile Kinnick, Sr.]
