Paterno - Head football coach - Penn State 865-0411 June 6, 1972 Dr. Jack Movers, Chairman Athletic Board University Hospitals Iowa City, Iowa 52240 Dear Dr. Moyers: A close friend of mine, The Reverend Derald Stump, who is related to the late Nile KinnicK, and I have talked at length about what a great example Nile was to the young people of our time. I know as a young boy growing up, Nile Kinnick was a hero to me. Reverend Stump mentioned that there might be a possibility of renaming your stadium in honor of Nile. I realize that it is probably none of my business but, for what it is worth and since you may be interested in an outsider's opinion, I think it would be a wonderful idea especially in these days when our young people have a tendency to play down the great qualities that Nile stood for. Again, I apologize if I am sticking my two cents in where it doesn't belong. Best wishes and regards, Joe Joseph V. Paterno Head Football Coach JVP:jhk
