2 were 17 pilots and 25 crewmen plus their wives who were able to make it. Four of the officers had to cancel at the last moment for physical reasons. We old WWII guys have become rather fragile. I made a special effort to spend a few hours with Marvin Haugebak in Cedar Falls en route to Des Moines. I hadn't seen him since Pensacola days in '42. He turned out to be the same nice, rather dull fellow that I remember him to be. He, Shady and I are the only survivors of our little group of ten who survived the thinning out process at Fairfax. Two nice Jewish fellows washed out. I wondered at the time how much their flying was involved. My wife and I used to wade the streams, and float
