I made a special effort to spend a few hours with Marvin Haugebak in Cedar Falls en route to Des Moines. I hadn't seen him since Pensacola days in '42. He turned out to be the same nice, rather dull fellow that I remember him to be. He, Shady and I are the only survivors of our little group of ten who survived the thinning out process at Fairfax. Two nice Jewish fellows washed out. I wondered at the time how much their flying was involved. My wife and I used to wade the streams, and float
