Saving...
Wednesday March 3, 1943 Dear Gus, Enclosed are two postal money orders totaling $125.00 and my income tax report which I figure at $145.00 I propose to pay the first installment of $36.25 and let the rest go until later. Any installments falling due while I am at sea are automatically deferred until three months after I return to the States, three months after the end of the war, or three months after my decease. Would like to have you mail my report and a check for $36.25 to the Collector of Internal Revenue by March 15th. Am asking that you pay by check in order that we shall have some record. On June 15th I should like you to make a similar payment, but let remittance on Sept. 15th & Dec. 15th be guided by what Congress does on this pay-as-you-go plan. My memory of war bonds purchased jibes with the record you listed in your last letter. Will assume that you will add to that from time to time in accordance with instructions I set forth in my correspondence referring to the allotment I had made. Have written to Frank Williams about possible investments, and will transcribe his suggestions to you as soon as I hear. Probably should have bought more Penn R.R. stock some time ago. Note that it is up about
