he rates four poems-"A Psalm of Life," "The Day is Done," "My Lost Youth," and "The Children's Hour." Re-read them yourselves and see if they don't appeal to you as they do to me. And for a long narrative poem I"ll take his "Evangeline" everytime. Want you to be sure and get me a volume of his complete works. I hereby acknowledge receipt of the cookies, cribbage board, sentinels, quarterly, and association citations. Thank you for each and all. It was fine to get some cookies again. By the clippings you sent, mother, it sounds as if old Mort (Randall Mortimer) is seeing a bit of the world. Am proud of the way he made every effort to get into the service even though his finger gave him an out. He is made of good stuff. Trust that grandma knows she is included in these letters. Haven't had time to write separately the past few weeks. Things go well-though gunnery still isn't too sharp. Nonetheless, I continue to feel that I can do my job and efficiently. Practice showings don't always correctly indicate game effectiveness. Haven't heard from Bob as yet, so
