Saving...
first dash out of Faid pass in the early stages of the African campaign. Several boyhood acquaintances of mine from Adel took the count, and I guess there were about 40 from the Red Oak area. This war is coming home even to the folks out in Iowa. Ziegel Neff brought a plane in wheels up on a night landing quite awhile back. It burned in nothing flat, but old Ziggy had lit a running and got out alright. You asked concerning VF-9, perhaps confusing it with my squadron VF-16, but in answer I can say that they just returned from their shakedown cruise. Ted and Lee now have a new baby boy, Fred III. That makes a son, grandson, and great-grandson for grandma all of the same name. Wish you could have said what plane you are flying and whether you have seen any action. My address from now on is VF-16 c/o FPO, N.Y.C. Take it easy & good luck, Mohandas. Yours, Nile
