Saving...
apartment seemed quite roomy and adequate. The bedroom has three single beds, a very large closet, and an adjoining bathroom with shower. The living room is well furnished with a davenport, several comfortable chairs, a couple of nice floor lamps, a desk. A small kitchenette with an icebox and a couple of burners completes the layout. I might add that the atmosphere of the Barclay Hotel is one of quiet refinement throughout. This is the straight dope, and not written just for home consumption. In not time at all Ellie had tomato soup, sandwiches, cocoa, and cookies served up in the front room. We lunched and visited for well over an hour without a break. She showed me several snapshots of Ben taken in California and also the large picture which he sent you. In every one I thought he looked especially fine - healthy, heavier, rugged, mature, determined, in fact, I thought he appeared downright handsome. You will be equally happy to know that Ellie also impressed me as being in the best of health and spirits. She is as sweet, and cute, and capable as they come. Around two oclock I asked her to go shopping with me. First we stopped in a bookshop nearby
