Saving...
a true farmer I took no chances on missing my train. I left Chicago at 1:45 PM Wed and got into Norfolk at 5 PM on Thurs, an half hour late. The trip was long and slow but not entirely uneventful. I found myself in a pullman full of men in the coffee business headed for a convention in Covington, Va. My judgement would be that most of those laddies were pretty much amateurs at drinking and gambling, but of course that didn't deter their enthusiasm, nor confidence, one minute. After a couple of hours of such company I decided to try the club car. There I had the misfortune to sit down beside an army major who was already pretty tight and still ordering.
