Monday Sept. 28, 1942 Dear Folks. In my most recent letter I spoke all too casually of my pleasure at being home for awhile; it was wonderful in every respect. In your company all tension and worldly care disappeared; love and affection and all that is good shone bright. I was home - safe, secure, protected, at rest - a little boy once again. You, dear parents, have made family life what it should be - the center of all happiness and virtue. Home! for me it always has and always will mean love, kindliness, comfort, laughter, fellowship, encouragement, bulwark against evil, sanctuary from temporal distress. Yes, it was grand to
