reason why they shouldn't be augmented. Surely all of it can be put to good use and goodness knows I don't consider the donation of a couple of bumpers and rubber mats much of a sacrifice. Frankly, I think I would take pardonable pride in driving around without them. However, because of what Golden writes and more especially because of the last three lines of Pegler's article which I enclose I am willing to let it go awhile. Don't think the government is handling their end of the scrap drive very efficiently, and certainly if bumpers are desirable scrap it should speak up and loudly. May change my mind; will let you know if I do. While I am at sea, if the need becomes more acute don't hesitate to take the logical action. And in replying to Mitch don't estimate he is to donate an extra 100# of scrap in consideration for my agreement to keep the bumpers. Incidentally in re: Pegler, his article on Russia and the second front which you sent me was bluntly logical & irrefutable.
