were all feeling pretty low about the Solomon situation. The sinking of the Wasp was hard to take. But now things look better, and the British drive in Egypt looks like the real thing. If our production lines really begin to roll this winter, and if the Army & Navy will deign to really cooperate in the Pacific area, the tide should turn strongly in our favor next year. Last Sat. night all the OTU boys here at Cecil were invited to a dance put on by the Friday Musicale Club of Jacksonville. Even Sir Robert and I went. It was nice to dance a little for a change, and the girls were quite nice but awfully young. We only stayed a couple of hours then took a bus back to the base. Twenty-four of the boys were chosen to ferry some of the primary trainers no longer needed here to other parts of the country. Unhappily I was
