3 [Navy Insignia] NAVAL AIR STATION PENSACOLA after seeing me one of these days, & it turned out to be yesterday. We had a nice chat, or rather he did most of the talking, & I just listened. He tried to play it kind of cagey, but old Nile is way ahead of him. He spoke of how much a good football team come fall could do for the morale of this base & its personnel 20,000 strong, how I could help a lot because that is actually what had happened out at Iowa, etc, etc--. I took this without batting an eye, but his followup about floored me. He said he wanted to get practice started about a month early with lots of dashes ending up with a mile run--because the
