a not-too-good light weight suit, wear that, so if you are permitted to wear civilian clothes on liberty you'll have something. As to socks--they will issue you enough to get along on, but a 1/2 doz extra black cotton sox would not be amiss. I wouldn't get a steamer trunk if I were you. If it takes that big a piece of luggage to get your clothes out there you are taking too much. After you have gotten your G.Is and are ready to transfer elsewhere you will be able to get a small steamer trunk at any army store. They only cost about $4.50 or $5. I would advise against taking your typewriter. The less you have to lug around & keep track of, the better. I am asking for mine only because I am trying to maintain a
