about the Common Man elicits this comment from me. His sentiments are noble & his aims desirable & in truth that is what we are struggling for, but he & Roosevelt give the impression that victory in this war will bring it all about, which is lamentably untrue. All it will do will give us the chance to start again which is no mean or insignificant reward for the price of victory. If we expect much more, it will be the same old disillusionment as last time. I believe Henry thinks this is the big showdown & the millenium is on the way. Tell grandma when you next write that her cookies have been thankfully received & that I will indite a letter soon.
