1942-06-25: Back

Shall be interested to hear how George and Ben are getting along.
There was a time when I would have looked forward to sustained
muscular exertion such as they will be undergoing, but no more.
Incidentally, I hear that training at Miami has been lengthened
to ten weeks which might mean that it would be too late for them
to send me anywehre else to play football. Happy thought--
though I don't seem much concerned about that possibility anymore.
Must get to pakcing now. Tkae it easy one and all.

P.S.  Had a brief letter from Kingsley the other day. He, then,
was stationed at Fort Jefferso, Mo. pending shipment somewhere
else. Said that he had had a couple of days of KP duty and that
it in no wise appealed to him. Also, that they all were listening
to Roosevelt talk when he said that he was surprised at the amount
of illiteracy found among inductees. Whereupon one of the soldiers
wondered out loud where Rosy thought he got all his votes.
