Friday, July 10, 1942 Dear Family, Have enjoyed so much your fine letters and birthday greetings. You can hardly imagine the eagerness with which I look forward to the mail delivery. My correspondence since coming in to the service has brought me many moments of happiness and laughter, but news from home is the best of all; it has become almost precious. Be sure and write Ben as often as possible. Give him every preference in the matter, for he is a long way from home under circumstances considerably less favorable than mine. To obviate the necessity of repetition and expedite matters all the way around it probably would be a good idea to pass my letters along to him and his to me - and he & I should do the same with letters from
