- 2 _ peated maxim of the Kinnick parents--"a thing worth doing is worth doing well". Quite on the contrary, there are only a few things worth doing really well, worth giving your entire enery and effort. There are a great many things which are worth doing only fairly well, if at all. Just as a young man is graduating from college should he begin to really settle down and to bring out his full ambition and energies, not while he is an eighty grader and thenceforward. Trust this won't distress you, it doesn't me. Its just an observation based on personal experience. Suppose you won't show this little bit of the letter to George. Well, maybe it would be best. Have just finished reading Joseph Conrad's "Typhoon". He certainly can write of the sea and its storms with feeling and strength. And, of course, mother,I shall take you up in my airplane someday; I would take great pride in that. Don't feel miffed, I plead you. Things go well, I feel fine, and it won't be long now. Much love to you all, I must turn in now. yours, sb
