We have been flying a good deal the past few days--3 hrs yesterday, 4 hrs the day before and the day before that. If we keep up this pace we shall be finished in two weeks. My guess, however, is that Sept. 1st will be the end of it all.On Mond. six of us flew a short cross country flight from the station to Bell Grade, just on the southeast corner of Lake Okochobee on a course of 332, then up to Fellsmere about sixty miles distant on a course of 003, and back again. Found it quite good fun but rather monotonous. Doubt if you will be able to find those two towns on a regular map they are so very small. Tues. and Wed. found us working on gunnery again and sorry to say I still am not doing too well. However, I am getting onto it better each time and it will be just a matter of practice. Find myself with a whole drawer full of unanswered letters. Have built my correspondence up to the point where I can hardly answer it all. Enjoy hearing from each and everyone and even enjoy writing, but it is hard to think of anything interesting to say. By the time I get all the letters answered I now have I shall have once again changed address and then the correspondence will slack off again. The cookies arrived the other day and were as good as usual but unfortunately some fat guy must have sat on them. They were extremely well pulverized. As for the social obligations you have to meet, mother, I urge you to fulfill them before I get home and I say that with all due respect to the Hornbergers, Hobbs, et al. I think you can appreciate that I want to spend my time just with the family or else out with some lovely young chick. The Science activity on this base is as it is on most navy stations. The wlefare worker for this area gets in touch with you, etc. but other than that, and the publications in the library, there isn't any. We fly every Sun. as I have oft told you. I haven't been to church for a good long time. Well, Bob has just come in so I shall close. yours, nile
