Today I with a squad of men was detailed to guard the train and see that none of the soldiers of our reg. went on the train without a pass. I saw mr Allen & Coffman sutlers to some regiment - They say that two or three regiments are still at Lagrange - Our fare at the Hosp. is quite good and I have a fine appetite so the victuals go quite fast. I constantly feel in the army how utterly worthless the friendship of man is when compared with the Love of God. Oh, would that I knew the
