Aug 11th. 1864. Today we go on picket. Yesterday I spent part of the day writing home. In the hawk eye which we received day before yesterday date 2n. there was a piece from the 45th. Iowa which did me the greatest injustice - I consider such things as contemptable yet not worth the attention of a correction - In a mans life God will bring it out all even - Yesterday a scout was sent out and after going 10 or 15 miles they found 6 guns and some amunition - The guns had been taken from dead colored soldiers, who were killed
