Aug. 14th. Sabbath - Our comp. is on duty today but as I was on a scout all day yesterday with Major Hope and am very tired I concluded to remain in camp. In the morning about 7 o'clock yesterday we started out with the intention of finding some of the men who were implicated in catching & killing some of the colored soldiers after Sturgis defeat. We surrounded the first one of their homes we came to but he had made good his escape - We scoured a cornfield but found nothing of him the corn
