be over 500. This after noon I went round the picket line. at the State line bridge I had to wade to the bridge and from it - The earth work has been evacuated and the picket beyond the river are drawn in - The companies on duty have a hard time. The battery and artillery men rode their horses a half mile through the water. to let them drink in the river - The state line bridge is expected to be washed away before tomorrow. Our time is out in 13 days we have heard nothing of our leaving - All hope we may go soon - as it will be quite unhealthy when the water subsides
