Saving...
Sunday Feb. 15, 1942 Dear People, This is the second weekend that we have been unable to get off the base. Last night they relented a bit and gave liberty to those who had their cadet blue uniforms. Only those who ordered immediately upon coming aboard had received delivery. I, being a bit cautious, ordered only a few days ago and am still without a uniform--and without liberty. We leave on Monday for Pensacola, so by the time you get this I shall have checked in there. I don't know of anyone who isn't glad to leave this base--no liberty, filthy silverware, all too frequent watches, etc. From what I hear about Pensacola it should be a fine place--two to a room, inner spring mattresses, floor lamp, recreational facilities on the base, and so on. Hope I won't be disappointed. In the short while we have been here we have been busy as the dickens. Ground school 8 to 5, 4 hr. watches every three days, cleanup after supper on Fridays--strenuous life and how. I checked out at ten words
