alleys, just about everything you could desire in the way of recreation & amusement. We live two to a room rather than in one big barracks room as heretofore. My roommate is Jack Wright one of the K.C. boys. Pettit & I weren't able to get together since all assignments were made even before we arrived. Wright is a thin, effeminate sort of guy but quite harmless. He has no more interest in me than I in him, but we will get along quite alright I know. There was a time when anything less than a handpicked roommate would have been a catastrophe for me--but no longer. Will tell you more about the base & the life here in my next letter. Have run into several boys I knew at Iowa and a good many others who know fellows that I do. Never have any trouble getting acquainted or making friends. Wyman Hayward showed up (Son of the man I roomed with at Iowa State 1912 & 1916) (Nile knew him from the stop at the Hayward ranch in New Mexico, with Ben, in 1935) NCK
