Tuesday night March 17, 1942 U.S. Naval Air Station PENSACOLA, FLORIDA Dear People, The weather has been lousy for the past four days and tonight is no exception. The fog which has secured flying since last Friday lifted about 1 PM today, the sun shone through briefly, then it clouded up and began to rain. Right now I can hear it pounding down outside my window. I suppose the Floridans call this "unusual weather", but it is rapidly assuming the aspect of a permanent characteristic in my mind. We haven't been able to have a good ball practice for what seems ages - and we open next Monday. Mich. State shouldn't be any better off, however. This week we started in on ship and aircraft recognition. It is no easy assignment to learn
