Thursday March 19, 1942 U.S. Naval Air Station PENSACOLA, FLORIDA Dear Mother, I have just now remembered that you mentioned in one of your recent letters that the church is making a drive for more money. Enclosed you will find my check for fifteen dollars. I trust that it will arrive to help meet the immediate need. My finger is coming along fine. I don't believe I am going to lose the nail as it first appeared. Batted without discomfort for the first time tonight. Have two tests tomorrow so must close. Things go well - and the sun is shining over Pensacola once again. Much love to all, Nile P:S: Please acknowledge receipt & see that the check gets in to the proper hands.
