Saturday March 21, 1942 U.S. Naval Air Station PENSACOLA, FLORIDA Dear George, How can Sat. become Sun., and Sunday become Sat.? Well, I'll tell you, it's this way. Yesterday afternoon the aerologists on this station smelled a heavy fog and rain coming up which would ground all flying for Sat., so the commanding officer decreed that Friday night (last night) and all day Sat. (today) would constitute out liberty for this week and that normal operations would be in order for Sunday. It really was a wise decision, for the heaviest fog I have ever seen closed in about 5:30 yesterday afternoon, and it has been raining constantly today. Bob hadn't yet received his gate pass, therefore couldn't leave
