Saving...
Sunday aft April 19, 1942 U.S. Naval Air Station PENSACOLA, FLORIDA Dear Family, This weekend is the first liberty we have had in twelve days. I never welcomed any athletic timeout more than I did this brief respite from our rigorous training schedule. No one not in the service can fully appreciate what a liberty means. It is as necessary to morale and efficiency as food and clothing. This past week and a half has been the very busiest period of my stay here. Flying three hours each day, attending class, and working painstakingly on navigation problems the rest of the time imposes a schedule worthy of the best man's effort.
