3 takeoffs and circling over the main field. Landing after dark, even on a fairly well lighted runway, is an exciting experience the 1st few times. You come in on the gun - in N3Ns at about 1000 or 1100 RPMS - settling all the while, feeling for the ground until you actually hit, then cut your throttle and pull the stick all the way back. Trying to stall out as you normally would is rather risky, since your judgment & perception of distance after dark is apt to be faulty. You ask when I shall be commissioned and indicate that you would like to come down if possible. Well, I don't know when it will be for sure, but I would guess sometime in August. Cadets are designated every week, however; there is no formal ceremony anymore, just a routine happening. I doubt if it would be wise to plan to
