3 he sent to Bob H, Whit & Austen Hemion, & Sumner. He extended an invitation to all of us to come out for a cruise after the war. Certainly, we'd all be in the mood for something like that. As for U. Charlie not having anything to write about, that shouldn't matter. I enjoy hearing from him regardless. His humor, comments on the general situation, and comparisons of the present with things past always interest me. Didn't Ben finish up in grand style? He must be the happiest guy alive, what with romance and honor recognition & all that sort of thing. As for the cookies, grandma, they were excellent even though a little squashed. And don't rob your rationed sugar supply to send me more, grand though it would be. Your letters of affection and encouragement bring me much comfort. Thank you for taking the time to write.
