THE STATE University of Iowa IOWA CITY OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT 5 September 1940 Dear Nile: In a recent conversation with Mr. Max Babb, President of the Allis-Chalmers Company, of Milwaukee, I was interested to have him make the more or less spontaneous remark to me that he hoped that you would not go into professional football. Mr. Babb's success in business has been so phenomenal as to indicate that his judgment is worth bringing to your attention.
