Sat. - 1:20 P.M. Dec 6, 1941 Dear People: Gather round & I'll start the story. Ken & I had a pleasant but uneventful trip down here, arriving about noon. About one oclock, we presented our orders to the chief petty officer who started us off on a round of procedure quite similar to registration day at the University. First we filled out a flock of papers then drew our bedding and uniforms. Unhappily, there won't be enough lockers to go around until another contingent of boys go south next Tuesday. Until then we are sleeping on temporary cots and living out of our suitcases. Not the best setup in the world, but not really a hardship of any importance. You should see the clothing I drew. It is of fine quality, but the fit is another story. In order to get a pair of pants that fit correctly in the seat & around the waist I had to take a pair with legs 5 inches to long. Just about the same thing was true of my shirt. As for my shorts - you would
