FRIDAY, JANUARY 22, 1864. A glad, bright day. Read four of five chapters in Graver Thoughts of a Country Parson". Several articles on Thackerey." Evening at the Library. Very happy. SATURDAY 23 Very pleasant noon hour, reading. "Evangeline" & Miles Standish with M - . Found Adjt C - at the office, & had a pleasant interview. Crossed the river on the ice with Miss Elliott. SUNDAY 24 Enjoyed more than any day since I have been in the city. S School, preaching, communion, & class, all very profitable.
