THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 1864. Visited the Senate & House with Mrs. W-. Stage full & could not go. Dined with Mr. Shippens. Mr. B- spent the afternoon with us. [Lewis Cutts?] [Gue?] and Hon C.C. Cole .evening. FRIDAY 19 Said goodby to Des M[oines] friends, more sorry than ever to leave Mrs. Wittenmyer. Rode all night in the coach. SATURDAY 20 Reached Burlington after a very interesting ride. Have every reason to be happy and trust in God.
