TUESDAY, MAY 3, 1864. Forenoon spent writing. Evening read Bitter Sweet. Was a good lesson to me. Did me more good than anything I have read for some time. WEDNESDAY 4 Writing all day. Long walk with Libbie and the children. Spring comes slowly. Brother Ortus has gone out recruiting. THURSDAY 5 Reading in the lates monthlies Milton and Sebum spent a very pleasant evening with us.
